Steal a Brainrot Index: a practical collection plan
Plan mutation collections from the in-game Index and avoid assuming every base skin uses the same completion percentage.
The Index tracks character collection by mutation. The detailed community reference reports different targets for permanent and seasonal sections; use the target shown in the current Index for the section you are completing.
What the Index helps you decide
The Fandom Index reference describes silhouettes for uncollected entries and named entries after acquisition, separated into mutation sections. That makes the Index a more useful shopping checklist than a general list of “rare” characters. A duplicate with the wrong mutation may improve income while leaving your selected collection section unchanged.

These grouped targets come from the indexed detailed Index and Base references. They are not a live progress readout. The eligible roster and historical cutoff differ by section; counting every character in a broad online list can give the wrong denominator. Phantom also has its own section in the Base reference, so it should be checked separately rather than inferred from another seasonal target.
Build a collection checklist
- Open the current Index and choose one mutation section. Record its target and your current count.
- Make a short list of missing names you can afford. Match both the full character name and mutation before treating a purchase as progress.
- After acquiring one, reopen that section and check that the entry or count changed. Keep the displayed result in your notes.
- Before selling or exchanging a collection unit, check whether the current perk requires continued ownership or maintained completion. Do not assume a past unlock and an active income bonus follow identical rules.
- Revisit the target after updates add characters. A permanent section with a growing eligible roster can require more entries later.
Choose a manageable next goal
For a first collection project, focus on a single section and a few missing inexpensive entries. Keep the income units that fund those purchases. Trying to buy every event variant at once can consume both cash and slots without finishing any one target. A dated spreadsheet with name, mutation, observed count change and next affordable entry is enough to make the plan actionable.
We do not recommend handing a character to an unknown player for “indexing” and assuming it will return. This guide’s collection plan uses your own acquisitions and observed Index progress; it does not guarantee any player-arranged exchange.
Common questions
Does every mutation base require 75%?
No. The detailed references distinguish 75%, 100% and 60% targets with different eligible rosters. Read the selected current Index section.
Does an ordinary copy fill a Gold entry?
The Index is described as separating collection by mutation. Match the mutation as well as the character name and confirm the count after acquisition.
